Enjoy these easy scalloped potatoes that are creamy and cheesy. They're great as a comforting side dish or a filling main course.
Ingredients:
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375F 190C
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat
Stir in flour until smooth and bubbly, about 1 minute
Gradually add milk, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens
Season with salt and pepper
Layer half of the potatoes and onions in a greased baking dish
Pour half of the sauce over the potatoes and onions
Sprinkle half of the cheese on top
Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, onions, sauce, and cheese
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes
Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown
