Ingredients:
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 4 slices bacon, cooked until crispy
- 4 slices smoked gouda cheese
- 8 slices bread
- Butter, for spreading
Instructions:
While the pan is on medium heat, cook the onions in slices until they start to turn brown, about 10 to 15 minutes
After the onions have turned brown, add the brown sugar and bourbon
Cook for another two to three minutes, or until the bourbon is gone
Put away
Warm up a skillet or a panini press over medium heat
Each piece of bread should have butter on one side
Cover half of the bread slices with smoked gouda cheese, caramelized onions, and bacon
Place these on the side that hasn't been buttered
Place the last few slices of bread on top, buttered side facing out
Put the sandwiches on a panini press or skillet that has been heated up
Cook for about 34 minutes on each side, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese melts
Take it off the heat, cut it up if you want, and serve it hot
